Act in turn
Wait until action reaches you. Acting early can reveal information and affect other players' decisions.
Make your action clear
If you are uncertain, verbalize your intended action before moving chips. Casino house rules govern what constitutes a binding bet or raise, so clarity prevents avoidable disputes.
Keep chips visible
Do not hide large-denomination chips behind smaller stacks. Other players should be able to estimate your stack.
Protect your cards
Keep control of your hand and avoid pushing live cards into the muck. Ask the dealer if you are unsure where to place them.
Do not discuss a live hand
Do not announce folded cards, advise another player or speculate about an opponent's holding while action remains.
Treat dealers and players respectfully
Bad beats are part of poker. Abuse, threats, harassment and collusion are incompatible with a professional room. Great Canadian Toronto publishes a player code of conduct reflecting those expectations.
Before visiting, also read the specific room's house rules.
