Questions regarding tournaments

Hello poker players and tournament organizers,

I have a number of questions concerning poker tournaments that I'm hoping you all can help me with. Here we go:

1) Can anyone recommend a good space in downtown Toronto that I could rent on the cheap for hosting a tournament? I don't want to hold it in a bar because I also want to sell my own booze. I'm thinking church basements, rec centres, Polish Halls, things like that.

2) Do any of you ever worry about the legality of this? It's one thing to have a poker game at someone's house. I wouldn't worry about the cops busting in on someone's basement in Woodbridge, but it's an entirely different situation when an actual bar or restaurant hosts a tournament for real money. Case in point - Hurricane's - I've played there before, and can't help but wonder about how illegal the entire thing is.

Thank you to you all in advance.

The Balls.

pokerroom for rent?

as soon as you serve booze you're asking for trouble. If you want a place thats all ready set up for you and your poker buddies, email me and we can get you up and running. 100% no booze. Either have liqour or poker but not both.

Best way for you to run a game and have a place is to bring the game to a club on a dead night and take a portion of the chop if there is one.
