Poker Basics - The Hands
For the novice player, here are the 10 poker hands in order of weakest to strongest:
1. High Card - ace being the highest possible card 2. One Pair - two cards of the same value 3. Two Pair - two sets of one pair 4. Three of a Kind - three cards of the same value 5. Straight - 5 cards in running sequence value 6. Flush - 5 cards of the same suit 7. Full House - three cards of a kind and a pair 8. Four of a Kind - four cards of the same value 9. Straight Flush - any straight ending in King or lower all of the same suit 10.Royal Flush - a straight from 10 to Ace of all the same suit Always remember that in a non-5 card hand, your "kicker" or extra card matters. In the event that an opponent also has the same hand, the player holding the higher kicker wins the pot. If the kickers are the same, the result is a split pot.
