While the content of a lot of the articles posted here have been aimed at the goal of winning in poker, I'd just like to state that we should remember that the main purpose of playing poker should always be fun. Gambling for real money can be fun and rewarding, but it is not fun to lose money you can't afford to be losing. As a general guide to safe gambling, practice these guidelines:

Always know your limit and know when to stop. Do not rebuy for the purpose of "making it back." Just swallow the fact that that night is a losing night, and head home.

Never borrow money to gamble.

Never use money you need for something important such as rent to gamble.
